Special Guest
We're really happy to welcome directors Joosje Duk and Saskia Diesing to Shortcutz Amsterdam on May 19.
They'll join us to talk about the international drama series Máxima, which launched its new season on March 14. The series tells the life story of Dutch Queen Máxima, starring Martijn Lakemeier and Delfina Chaves, and has been sold to over 25 countries worldwide and is already confirmed for season 3!
Joosje has been building a distinctive voice across shorts, series and features. Before Máxima, her short film Night (2016) won the HuffPost Arts Impact Award and premiered at 25+ festivals, while her comedy series Almost Starring (2021) was nominated for a Golden Calf. Her feature directorial debut, Happy Ending (2023), premiered on Netflix and reached #3 on the Global Top 10 with over 6.6 million views.
Saskia has established herself through prestige feature films and television. Her feature debut, Nena (2014), won the Golden Calf for Best Director and earned a Special Mention from the Generation 14+ International Jury in Berlin. She has since directed the features Dorst (Craving, 2018) and De Zitting (Judgement Call, 2021), and the brilliant series Het Verloren Transport (Lost Transport, 2022). ✨
