8TH SHORTCUTZ AMSTERDAM ANNUAL AWARDS
WHAT, WHERE AND WHEN IS THE 8TH SHORTCUTZ AMSTERDAM ANNUAL AWARDS?
Every year we invite inspiring film personalities to deliver a speech invigorating the new generation to create. It’s a special kind of awards ceremony where everybody wins, and walks away inspired.
The 8th Edition of the Shortcutz Amsterdam Annual Awards will be held on 24th of January 2021, 20:00 at EYE 1, Amsterdam.
We will honour a role model who has inspired new Dutch filmmakers and/or contributed to their promotion with the Rutger Hauer Award.
During the ceremony, winners of the following categories will be screened during the event: Best Film and the Audience Award
We award the best of Dutch short film, granting prizes in 9 categories selected by our JURY:
Best Director,
Best Documentary,
Best Animation,
Best Experimental Film,
Best Screenplay,
Best Cinematography,
Best Editing,
Best Acting,
and Best Film.
Shortcutz Amsterdam will go international for the fourth time to determine the Audience Award. This award is selected by the audiences of our screenings held in December and January throughout the world with regional partners. The Audience Award winner will be announced at the ceremony.
Previous awards ceremonies have welcomed film personalities such as legendary actor Rutger Hauer, cult film director Béla Tarr, Peter Greenaway, Oscar-nominees Hany Abu-Assad and Paula van der Oest, actor Gijs Scholten van Aschat, actress Monic Hendrickx, and many others.

PRIZES
The winner for Mr Zee Best Film of the Year is awarded €15,000 worth of services by FILMMORE and CAM-A-LOT, €7,500 each.
CAM-A-LOT awards the winner of Mr Zee Best Cinematography with equipment rental worth € 2,500.
FILMMORE awards the winner of Mr Zee Best Editing with post-production facilities worth € 2,500.

Each nominee is given 2 tickets to the Shortcutz Amsterdam Annual Awards. If you should require more seats, tickets will be available at EYE from 4 January 2021 at www.eyefilm.nl. Tickets normally sell out really quickly, so make sure to be fast if you want extra seats. Please keep in mind that we are also expecting a reduced capacity, due to Covid-19.
