JIMMY ON THE RUN
Documentary | directed by Wytse Koetse
length | 07:47 minutes
A 7-minute portrait of natural born fashion and street photographer 'Jimmy on the Run'. Coming from rural China, he now roams the streets of Amsterdam always chasing the next best picture. This short film shows Jimmy’s passion for the lens, his dynamic lifestyle and his struggle with family expectations.
"Telling such a big story in less than 10 minutes...about an artist, his art, his (our!) world, and searching for dad's respect in a way we all can understand without being too easy." Claire van Daal programmer at Nederlands Film Festival
"A beautiful portrait about a young man making portraits of others.” director Eddy Terstall (Simon, Meet me in Venice)
“It’s absolutely great to see the world through Jimmy’s eyes.” documentary producer Harmen Jalvingh (Bloody Mondays & Strawberry Pies, Becoming Zlatan)
"What begins as a flashy and seemingly superficial story gradually turns into a genuinely moving portrait of a man who loves people and is ultimately looking for the appreciation and love of his own father.” Jan Doense & Rutger Hauer
"An excellent “calling card” for the photographer! Good stills, an impression of Amsterdam and very well cut and assembled; bringing the charming filmmaker and his troublesome relationship with his father into the film adds a dramatic element. Should I be looking for a good photographer I would hire this man immediately.” producer Jan Harlan (The Shinning, Full Metal Jacket)
“You can't help yourself falling in love with Jimmy. You feel his passion pouring off the and his desire to connect with his father is heartbreaking.” Street Artist Laser 3.14
“This short has everything that you want to see in a movie, explore something new, be emotional touched, visual bombarded, see a stylistic choice, feel a ritme and make something that will be remembered. Wytse Koetse is giving all of that in the highest possible quality.” director Roel Reiné (Michiel de Ruyter, Dead in Tombstone)
"Beautiful insight into Jimmy’s world and him as a human being. The smooth editing and coloring really compliment the picture.” actor Vincent van Ommen (Amsterdam Heavy, The Dark Knight Rises)
Animation | directed by Patrick Schoenmaker
length | 02:40 minutes
The seclusive retirement home Afterglow is a depressing end station. Fortunately, feisty elderly Gerda has one spark of joy: the weekly Bingo night. "I keep on laughing about being old and dead.” Claire van Daal programmer at Nederlands Film Festival
“Well made and so macabrely funny.” documentary producer Harmen Jalvingh (Bloody Mondays & Strawberry Pies, Becoming Zlatan)
