Every year we invite inspiring film personalities to deliver a speech to inspire the new generation to create more and better movies. It’s our way of trying to create an awards ceremony where everybody wins something, at the very least some inspiration.

The 7th Edition of the Shortcutz Amsterdam Annual Awards will be held on the 19th of January 2020, 20:00 at EYE 1, Amsterdam.

We also honour a role model who has been inspiring the new Dutch filmmakers and contributed to the prestige of Dutch cinema at home and abroad with the Shortcutz Career Award.

During the ceremony the winners of the categories: Best Film, Best Animation, Best Documentary and Best Experimental film will be screened during the event.

In this ceremony we award the best of Dutch short film, granting prizes in 10 categories chosen by you:

  • Best Director,

  • Best Documentary,

  • Best Animation,

  • Best Experimental,

  • Best Screenplay,

  • Best Cinematography,

  • Best Editing,

For the third time, Shortcutz Amsterdam will go international for the Audience Award. This Award is the audience's favourite film of our screenings made in December and January throughout the world with regional partners. The winner will also be announced at the ceremony.

  • Flight in Economic rate from your location: we know this is horrible especially for jury members living in the US. We have tried to negotiate several partnerships to be able to provide better flight conditions. We have fail so far, we are paying these trips and our foundation has no funds to support higher flight rates. If you have any extra tip please just let us know, this would really makes us happy.:)

  • Up to 4 nights accommodation at Lloyd Hotel (4*/5* room): Lloyd Hotel has been our hosting partners for over 5 years.

Lloyd Hotel is a hotel housed in a historic building in the Eastern Docklands of Amsterdam, commissioned by the Royal Holland Lloyd (Koninklijke Hollandsche Lloyd). Founded as a hotel, it initially housed travelling immigrants. Later, it was used as a detention centre and was also home to artists' studios. It is an official national monument of the Netherlands.
